RESIDENCE GOETHE – “U Tří mouřenínů” is situated in the very heart of Karlovy Vary’s historic spa district. This remarkable historic building was once visited on several occasions by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the renowned German writer, poet, novelist, playwright and statesman.
Two commemorative plaques dedicated to Goethe can be found on the façade of the building. Inside the main part of the residence, guests can also admire a series of artistic murals depicting scenes from Goethe’s life, with a particular focus on his frequent visits to Karlovy Vary and his stays in this very house.
Historical note: Over the centuries, the building has been known by several names. In addition to its historic name “U Tří mouřenínů” (“At the Three Moors”), it was also known as “Goethe House” – a name reflecting its close connection with the celebrated writer.
A unique location in the heart of Karlovy Vary
The exceptional location of RESIDENCE GOETHE places guests just moments from the famous Vřídlo, Karlovy Vary’s largest and most powerful thermal spring, as well as the Vřídelní Colonnade, the Mill Colonnade and the town’s other renowned healing springs.
Within approximately five minutes’ leisurely walk, guests can explore the underground of the Vřídlo as part of a guided tour, visit the magnificent Church of St Mary Magdalene, enjoy a performance at the Karlovy Vary City Theatre, or simply discover the many attractions and experiences offered by the historic heart of this celebrated spa town.
A taxi rank and a local bus stop are also located close to the residence, providing convenient access to other parts of Karlovy Vary.
For a more leisurely way to explore the town, guests can take a ride on the popular tourist road train or enjoy a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the picturesque streets of Karlovy Vary.
